The national MMC demand-generation strategy is a resource that will guide those who strive to generate demand for MMC, do so in the most effective manner. This strategy emphasises integration of MMC as a part of a comprehensive sexual reproductive health package of services for men and understanding how to bridge the gap between men intending to get medically circumcised and ultimately going for the procedure. The strategy will assist in strengthening methodologies, increasing coordination and decentralising implementation.

The South African National Integrated Men’s Health Strategy 2020-2025 (the Strategy) is a framework for action to work towards the goal that Every South African man and boy is supported to live a long and healthy life. South African men generally have poor health seeking behaviours and are less likely than women to engage health services across the care cascade, resulting in adverse clinical outcomes for many preventable illnesses.

South African National Guidelines for Medical Male Circumcision

The South African National Department of Health (NDoH) has endorsed Medical Male Circumcision (MMC) as an HIV prevention strategy for men in South Africa. These technical guidelines,  adapted from World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines, are intended for health care workers and program managers to provide universal, integrated, safe and accessible voluntary MMC services.

The SAHMS-FSW survey represents the first attempt to conduct behavioural and HIV disease surveillance with the female sex worker populations in South Africa's largest metropolitan areas of Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, and provide data on the epidemiology of HIV, behavioural risk factors, and targeted prevention and treatment programme coverage and uptake in this critical key affected population in nearly a decade.

South African Antimicrobial Resistance National Strategy Framework: A One Health Approach 2017 - 2024

The  purpose of the National AMR Strategy Framework is to provide a structure for managing AMR among humans and animals to limit further increases in resistant microbial infections, and improve the health of the population. The goals of the strategy are to define the principles and short to medium term interventions needed to preserve the effectiveness of antimicrobials for future generations to improve the appropriate use  of  antibiotics  in  human  and  animal  health and to improve the effective management of antibiotic resistant organisms and prevent their transmission.

Sexually Transmitted Infections Management Guidelines 2015

This guide includes the current STI syndromic management algorithms. STIs are preventable and many are treatable. Early access to care helps prevent further transmission to partners and from mother-to-child, acquisition of additional STIs, and decreases the risk of STI related complications. Screening for STIs at any and all health care visits, can promote STI prevention and management and provide an opportunity for additional health promotion and education. Where possible, STI screening and prevention should become routine and integrated into all health visits.

Saving mothers 2011-2013

Type
The sixth edition of the report on maternal deaths includes 4,452 maternal deaths logged into the national database for the period between 2011 and 2014. The report notes a decrease in maternal deaths due mainly to a decrease in deaths due to non-pregnancy related infections such as HIV and tuberculosis. While these kinds of infections still rank among the top five causes of maternal deaths, the percentage of deaths attributed to infections like HIV has fallen by about 25 percent in the last eight years.
