Guidelines for the Provincial Health Research Committees (PHRCs)

The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for the Provincial Health Research Committees (PHRCs). The primary purpose of providing these guidelines is to promote a common approach and shared vision for the co-ordination and management of research within government and to introduce a measure of consistency and standardisation across the provinces, particularly in terms of the roles and functions of the PHRCs.

The APC clinical tool is a comprehensive, integrated clinical decision support tool for frontline clinicians working in primary health care in South Africa. It forms part of the Ideal Clinic and the Integrated Clinical Service Management programmes. The tool has been updated to combine the latest guidelines and policies, across all clinical programmes in the National Department of Health in South Africa, into a single practical implementation tool.
