The National Strategic Plan for HIV, TB, and STIs 2023-2028

The fifth NSP for HIV, TB and STIs launches at a time when the COVID-19 epidemic has affected access and the provision of services and solutions for HIV, TB and STIs and amplified inequalities. Consequently, this NSP outlines comprehensive multi-sectoral strategic objectives and priority interventions to be carried out to get the HIV, TB and STI response on track to eliminate these diseases as public health threats by 2030.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The SDGs work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in a sustainable way, for future generations. They provide clear guidelines and targets for all countries to adopt in accordance with their own priorities and the environmental challenges of the world at large.

Strategy to Protect the Health and Safety of Health Workers in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic

The national strategy to protect the health and safety of health workers seeks to protect both the physical and mental health of frontline health workers and acknowledges their need for social support. The strategy aims to protect the physical health of health workers through prevention and mitigation of COVID-19 infections by providing a safe physical environment. It also seeks to promote mental health of health workers through psychological support and to provide necessary social support.

Strategy for the Health Sector: 2012/13 - 2016/17

To realize the vision to improve access to health care for all we require the human resources to implement re-engineered Primary Health Care and ensure the service capacity for a health system with improved financing through National Health Insurance. It is necessary to develop and employ new professionals and cadres to meet policy and health needs, to increase workforce flexibility to achieve this objective, to improve the working lives of the existing workforce, to improve retention, increase productivity and revitalize aspects of education, training and research.

Strategic Plan for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Women's Health (MNCWH) and Nutrition in South Africa

Interventions outlined in the strategy are therefore closely linked to and aligned with efforts to strengthen the health system and especially to improve the functioning of PHC services and the district health system. Interventions contained in this plan reflect and support the process of PHC re-engineering. The three strands of PHC re-engineering, namely establishment of ward-based PHC outreach teams, expansion and strengthening of School Health services and establishment of district clinical specialist teams, will all contribute to improving maternal and child health.

Strategic Plan Campaign on Accelerated Reduction of Maternal and Child Mortality in Africa 2013

This 18-page document outlines South African strategies to reduce maternal and child deaths in the country as part of the African Union's Campaign for the Accelerated Reduction of Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA). The African Union launched CARMMA in May 2009. South Africa released its CARMMA strategic plan in 2013. Targets included in the plan drew heavily on already agreed upon targets such as the Millennium Development Goals. Thus, South Africa's strategic plan outlined a number of goals for the year 2015.

Strategic Plan 2015

To improve health status through the prevention of illness, disease and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and to consistently improve the health care delivery system by focusing on access, equity, efficiency, quality and sustainability.

South African Veterinary Strategy (2016 - 2026)

The proposed Veterinary Strategy provides a broad framework for the fulfilment of the government of South Africa's commitments and responsibilities to guarantee citizens of South Africa "the right to have access to sufficient and safe food of animal origin". The State must take reasonable measures (legislative and other), within its available resources, to achieve the progressive realisation of the right to safe food for each citizen. The strategy builds on South Africa's risk based studies as well as the objectives of the relevant international standards.

South African National Medical Male Circumcision Demand Generation Strategy

The national MMC demand-generation strategy is a resource that will guide those who strive to generate demand for MMC, do so in the most effective manner. This strategy emphasises integration of MMC as a part of a comprehensive sexual reproductive health package of services for men and understanding how to bridge the gap between men intending to get medically circumcised and ultimately going for the procedure. The strategy will assist in strengthening methodologies, increasing coordination and decentralising implementation.
