The purpose of this document is to provide guidelines for the Provincial Health Research Committees (PHRCs). The primary purpose of providing these guidelines is to promote a common approach and shared vision for the co-ordination and management of research within government and to introduce a measure of consistency and standardisation across the provinces, particularly in terms of the roles and functions of the PHRCs.

Community health workers (CHWs) are frontline health workers who are trusted members of the community and have a particularly good understanding of the communities they serve. CHWs serve as a liaison between health services and the community. Therefore, CHWs require knowledge of the services provided by the different tiers of the health system

These guidelines have been designed by the department of health to guide the care that is provided for pregnant women and neonates in South Africa. They represent the desired standard of care. Clinicians must be aware of the guideline contents and understand how to implement them.

This is a training course on the clinical management of tuberculosis, with a modular structure, from module 1 to module 8. The target group is healthcare workers, i.e. nurses and doctors.
