National Health Insurance for South Africa White Paper

Type
The NHI aims to achieve the following objectives, ensuring universal health coverage for all South Africans, improving the quality of health care services irrespective of socio-economic status of the user, promoting equity and social solidarity through the pooling of risks and funds and creating one public health fund with adequate resources and funds to plan for and to effectively meet the health needs of the entire population.

National Consolidated Guidelines for the Management of HIV in Adults, Adolescents, Children and Infants and Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission

Type
All HIV positive pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, children, adolescents and adults have been eligible for ART regardless of CD4 count or WHO staging since 01 September 2016. The “Test and Treat All” approach has made it possible for people living with HIV (PLHIV) to access ART timeously. The 2019 Consolidated Guidelines have been revised to include a new formulation of the fixed dose combination (FDC) of tenofovir (TDF) 300 mg + lamivudine (3TC) 300 mg + dolutegravir (DTG) 50 mg (TLD) for all eligible adults, adolescents and children 10 years and older and weighing 35 kg or more.

The revised District Planning and monitoring system is an effort to improve both efficiency and effectiveness of the process, thereby promoting better service delivery of District Health Services and improve health outcomes in South Africa through a direct focus on planning and monitoring for implementation.

District Health Management Information System (DHMIS) Policy

Type
The DHMIS policy focuses on seven (7) high level priority areas, namely: Health Information Coordination and Leadership; Indicators; Data management, Data security; Data analysis and information products; Data dissemination and use and Health information system resources. These priority areas have sub-components, under which detailed policy provisions are made. It is of particular significance that this policy includes the ownership and management of the DHMIS.

Type
This guide was developed by the International Training and Education Center on Health (I-TECH) South Africa to support HIV, AIDS, STI and Tuberculosis care and treatment. It details the algorithms for testing intervals, diagnosis and treatment of HIV and HIV related diseases.
