South African National Integrated Men’s Health Strategy 2020-2025

The South African National Integrated Men’s Health Strategy 2020-2025 (the Strategy) is a framework for action to work towards the goal that Every South African man and boy is supported to live a long and healthy life. South African men generally have poor health seeking behaviours and are less likely than women to engage health services across the care cascade, resulting in adverse clinical outcomes for many preventable illnesses.

South African Antimicrobial Resistance National Strategy Framework: A One Health Approach 2017 - 2024

The  purpose of the National AMR Strategy Framework is to provide a structure for managing AMR among humans and animals to limit further increases in resistant microbial infections, and improve the health of the population. The goals of the strategy are to define the principles and short to medium term interventions needed to preserve the effectiveness of antimicrobials for future generations to improve the appropriate use  of  antibiotics  in  human  and  animal  health and to improve the effective management of antibiotic resistant organisms and prevent their transmission.

National Strategy for Prevention and Control of Obesity - 2015

The  aims of this strategy for the prevention and control of obesity are to reform obesogenic environments and enablers ,while enhancing opportunities for increased physical activity and healthy food options in every possible setting, including healthcare facilities, early development centers, schools, workplaces and the community at large.This systems-based perspective has the ability to accelerate achievements, both in single settings,as well as in combination.

National Strategic Direction For Nursing And Midwifery Education And Practice

The National Strategic Direction for Nursing and Midwifery Education and Practice is underpinned by the 2030 Human Resources for Health Strategy: Investing in the Health Workforce for Universal Health. The strategy harnesses nursing education and practice in support of universal health coverage (UHC) and the vision of the National Development Plan (NDP): 2030 for “a health system that works for everyone and produces positive health outcomes”.

National Infection Prevention and Control Strategic Framework - 2020

The purpose of this document is to outline the strategic framework to prevent, reduce and control the development of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), ultimately improving patient safety and health outcomes. This strategic framework will be applicable to all provincial and district managers responsible for health service delivery including for infection prevention and control health facility staff and health workers in both the public and private health sector.

National Health Insurance Strategic Plan 2020/21 - 2024/25

The National Health Insurance (NHI) policy of government aims to dismantle the system and introduce several structural reforms. The consultation on NHI bill, which is led by the portfolio committee of health, will ensure that NHI fund is established and able to strategically purchase health services from public and private health providers once it is enacted by the President. Concurrently, the National Department DoH, in partnership with its provincial counterparts, aims to strengthen the health system of South Africa to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

National Development Plan 2030

The National Development Plan is a broad strategic framework.  It  sets  out  a  coherent  and  holistic approach  to  confronting  poverty  and  inequality based  on  the  six  focused,  interlinked  priorities which are to 1. Uniting South Africans under a common program, 2. Encouraging citizens ti be active in their own development, 3. Faster and more inclusive growth, 4. Building capabilities, 5. A capable and more developmental state and 6. Leadership and responsibility throughout society.

National Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Framework Strategy 2015

This National ASRH&R Framework Strategy resonates with the vision of the Population Policy for South Africa (1998) which is “to contribute towards the establishment of a society that provides a high and equitable quality of life for all South Africans in which population trends are commensurate with sustainable socio-economic and environmental development.” The goal of the Population Policy is “to bring about changes in the determinants of the country's population trends, so that these trends are consistent with the achievement of sustainable human development.”
